I took a year to get off.... bridged the end with Prozac which is easier to get off of.

I'm glad you were able to get off of antidepressants. For me, I believe they did get me through some difficult times; but I just wonder at what cost.

I wish you the best. It sounds so challenging, but I'd guess moving away from big pharma will end up being a good thing. Recently watched "Garden State" again and have been thinking a lot about how so many people are trapped in a pharma fog. You should be proud of yourself for having the courage to even attempt such a difficult journey. Thanks for sharing with us.

Thank you! Yes indeed, it has been challenging. I've since learned that withdrawing from Cymbalta is even more difficult than withdrawing form opioids. There was no informed consent there, because if I had known that I would have never accepted this medicine. Absolutely getting away from all pharmaceuticals. Only have one prescribed medicine left! But I'll deal with Seroquel next year.

Wow, that's crazy that it is more difficult than opiods. I would say I can't believe they prescribe it so nonchalantly, but unfortunately I can believe it. It's appalling. Especially since we know there are much better options. I hope they make things easier on you.

I’m very interested to hear more details of your leaving Cymbalta, as I’ve been prescribed it for the same issues for years now. I had read that withdrawal is difficult in the extreme, but I’m considering it.

I’m also very interested in your views on psychedelics, as the few times I took any in my early 20s were really many of the best days of my life.

From what I've read it's very challenging to withdraw from antidepressants for about 50% of the people. And for me unfortunately, I was one of the 50% of the people who had a very difficult time. However, everyone is different and I have been taking antidepressants for decades, so it's understandable that I would have a hard time. Still very glad I did get off of them; I don't feel so numb emotionally and so many memories that were repressed have come back. Even though they are sometimes quite challenging memories, I'm still glad to recover them.

And I have to say that psychedelics, in particular magic mushrooms have helped me a great deal. One trip and I felt like I recovered from depression. I never felt as certain about anything in my life - I just knew/felt that I no longer would deal with severe depression.
